THE COLOURS OF MID-AUTUMN AT DORSETT GRAND SUBANG

Mooncakes in various colours and flavours take the limelight for the upcoming Mid-Autumn Festival celebration at Dorsett Grand Subang this year.

Handcrafted by Dim Sum Master Chef Chan Chee Loong, ‘The Colours of Mid-Autumn’ collection showcases a myriad of snowskin mooncakes with enticing fillings.
Berri-Licious Snowskin Mooncake

New creations to debut this year include Berri-Licious and Ying & Yang Snowskin Mooncake both priced at RM45 per mooncake. The first a pure white snowskin mooncake streaked with blue – flaunts the goodness of blueberries in its filling.

The latter, a marbled creation with striations of cream, ivory, espresso and chestnut, comes with a dual filling of milk tea and coffee paste. Unusual and most palate-pleasing.

Available at RM33 each, the Red Sapphire Snowskin Mooncake is naturally infused with red dragon fruit extract and boasts a pure red bean paste filling. The sweetness level is just nice and pleasant enough to induce repeat helpings.

Pandan fans can look forward to savouring Royal Jade (RM43 each) – a snowskin mooncake infused with pandan extract while its filling comprises fragrant pandan-infused lotus paste.

Instantly recognizable for its mesmerizing blue pea flower hue, the Dorsett Blue Signature (RM43 each) snowskin mooncake returns to join the customary celebration with its white lotus paste with single yolk filling.

Another perennial crowd-pleaser requiring 2 days’ advance order is the Signature Premium Musang King Durian (RM60 each) snowskin mooncake since it’s made using 100% MK durian pulp.

Baked variants are also available: White Lotus Paste with Double Yolks (RM48 each) requires a 3 days' advance order; Pandan Lotus Paste with Single Yolk (RM43 each); White Lotus Paste with Single Yolk (RM42 each); Pure White Lotus Paste (RM36 each); Pure Red Bean Paste (RM33 each) and Pandan Lotus Paste with Single Yolk (RM43 each).

Dorsett Grand Subang’s mooncakes are HALAL certified, and made without any added preservatives. They come in a gift box of 4 pieces each.

This year’s multi-functional recycled box comes in vibrant orange, adorned with pretty motifs by iKarrtini (Malaysia’s renowned batik designer) in UV finishing. Customers who purchase a minimum of 2 boxes and above (4 pieces of mooncakes per box), can also opt for a matching D’Tote bag by iKarrtini at an additional RM18 nett.

Another gifting option includes The Autumn Gift Set (RM168) features a choice of any two mooncake variants, one Dorsett Tea in a lovely recyclable tea container plus one exclusive D'Tote bag.

CHOICES APLENTY AT DORSETT GRAND SUBANG'S HI-TEA BUFFET

If you enjoy being spoiled for choice when it comes to hi-tea, the Superlicious Buffet at Terazza Brasserie every Saturday from 12noon to 4pm should be your cup of tea. Priced at RM98 nett per adults, RM78 (senior citizens) and RM49 nett (per 6-12 years old child), the wide selection of tempting savoury and sweet items will leave both young and old happily satisfied.

Few people can resist a juicy Roast Lamb with vegetables and potatoes – step up and ask the chef to slice the tender pink meat for you to sample. We did and had no regrets as the meat was deliciously moist and flavourful.

To complement it, we enjoyed some Mediterranean-style Grilled Eggplant with Cheese from the appetiser section. Other Asian salads such as Thai Beef Salad and Kerabu Udang were also served on that day.

Pita Pockets with Lamb Keema helped to spice up our tea experience. The fiery hot lamb curry packed quite a wallop but we love the tantalising heat on our palate.

Another robust offering that set our tongues ablaze was Sambal Sotong. The sweetish chilli paste was a match made in heaven with Lontong Jawa – a mildly spiced stew of coconut milk and turmeric, nasi impit (compressed rice cakes), glass noodles, and assorted chopped vegetables: eggplant, long beans, cabbage, carrot.

For a taste of nostalgia, we recommend sampling Puttu Mayam with Brown Sugar or if you prefer, Beef Curry. A Do-It-Yourself Sandwich Bar with an assortment of bread, cold cut, and sandwich fillings allows patrons to make their own sandwiches.

Crowd-pleasing options ranging from Battered Fish Fingers and Steamed Chicken Dumplings, to Fried Banana and Sweet Potato Fritters, Fried Fish Balls and Spring Rolls, among others are also served.

Sweet-toothed cravings will be amply satisfied with an extensive array of Malay Kuih and Layered Agar-agar Jelly, alongside sweet dessert broths. More Continental-inspired servings of Mango Pudding, mini glasses of Chocolate-Vanilla Mousse, and Chocolate Tarts beckoned invitingly in addition to Ice Cream in various flavours as well as Ais Kacang.

We drank copious glasses of Teh Tarik during our hi-tea session but you can ask for coffee too. Fruit-infused water is served in a self-service dispenser throughout the buffet.
