PLAZA PREMIUM GROUP UNVEILS NEW LOUNGE AT KLIA

It was 25 years ago when the first Plaza Premium Lounge opened at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA). The Plaza Premium Group (PPG) has since come a full circle, proudly unveiling its spanking new Plaza Premium Lounge & Plaza Premium First at KLIA Terminal 1.

Officially opened by Minister of Transport, YB Anthony Loke amidst much fanfare, the new lounges incorporate Plaza Premium First and the Plaza Premium Lounge.

Available to business and leisure travellers, the tastefully designed lounges feature dedicated relaxation, socialising, dining and ‘work from anywhere’ spaces including private rooms for families or corporate use.

Song Hoi-See, PPG’s CEO and Founder said: “We founded the independent lounge concept 25 years ago in Malaysia. We’ve have since expanded our concept to over 70 international airports, and in conjunction with our 25th anniversary, we’ve returned to our roots and revisited the whole lounge experience.

“This launch is a testament to PPG’s growth in 2023 and beyond. Committed to “Make Travel Better”, we aim to transform Plaza Premium Lounge into a pre-flight space and also as a destination in its own right, in all the countries we operate in. We want to bring Malaysian culture to the forefront, where guests can visit us and discover something new every time.”

The interior design of both Plaza Premium Lounge and Plaza Premium First pays homage to Malaysia’s art forms and its natural landscape. A rainforest tree serves as the focal point within the space, bestowing a touch of green for guests. Batik elements are incorporated into the lounge seating whilst dividing panels feature rattan-weaving patterns.

In collaboration with Art People Gallery, curated artworks from nine local, emerging artists are showcased throughout the two lounges, giving guests insights into the culture and traditions of Malaysia. At the entrance, an expansive art mural depicts Malaysia’s past, present and future.

Chef de Cuisine Andri Hadi is tasked with creating an a la carte menu for Plaza Premium First where dishes are cooked a la minute, while Plaza Premium Lounge’s offers a buffet menu.

Known for his elevated fusion creations, Chef Andri’s signature dishes include Nasi Lemak with Australian Beef Rendang for Plaza Premium First and Malaysia Curry Laksa for Plaza Premium Lounge. A refreshed menu featuring plant-based and vegetarian options will also be offered in its bid to promote sustainability and wellness.

Opening Offer (March 1 – June 30, 2023)

  • Plaza Premium First – From RM202 per person (2-hour lounge use)
  • Plaza Premium Lounge – From RM 146 per person (2-hour lounge use)

3 TIPS ON PLANNING YOUR HOLIDAY

“Travelling allows you to become so many different versions of yourself”
– Anonymous

Perhaps that’s the reason why we love to travel. Our wanderlust is hard to tamp down and having our freedom restricted is possibly one of the greatest challenges we have to endure during the prolonged MCO period.

Now that Federal Territory and Selangor have transitioned into National Recovery (NRP) Phase 4, most of us are grateful we can once again travel domestically without restraint while practising the new normal SOPs stipulated.

In this aspect, we Malaysians are truly fortunate as we’re spoiled for choice when it comes to choosing the type of holidays we prefer. Whether we plan to head for the beach or up to the hills, opt for a city staycation or escape to the bucolic countryside, the length and breadth of Peninsular Malaysia alone offers limitless possibilities. We have not even touched on the myriad wonders that beckon from East Malaysia.

No savvy traveller these days can afford to leave home without doing some homework aka research. The secret to a great holiday is to plan ahead. Start with these 3 tips in mind:

·       Your Budget

While everyone would love to holiday in the lap of luxury, let’s get real. It’s best to be realistic and set a budget for your holiday. Take into account how much you plan to spend on accommodation, transportation (flights, car rental, train tickets, etc), food & drinks, sightseeing and recreational activities, and personal spending money (gifts and souvenirs). Remember to set aside a small emergency fund.

·       Your Needs

The needs of a solo traveller differ great greatly from those of a couple, a group of singletons, and those of a family with small children. If you are the holiday planner, then a reliable online portal such as Hotel in Kuala Lumpur is a boon in determining your holiday needs i.e. What kind of accommodation do you need? Would child-friendly accommodation or hotels with a swimming pool be a priority? Traveloka has plenty of useful tips and resources to help make your holiday planning a breeze.

·       Your Itinerary

Plan ahead and determine the type of holiday you want. Would it be a laidback, laze by the pool kind of vacay or would it be an activity-filled one with lots of sightseeing and shopping thrown in?

A holiday is also a chance to pursue your leisure interests or do something different from your daily life. Is it time for you to unleash the spirit of discovery and learn more about mother nature through hiking and nature walks? Perhaps you yearn to fly high and conquer the sky through paragliding or swim with the fishes by learning to snorkel or scuba-dive?

It goes without saying planning for a solo traveller is easier than planning a holiday for a group of friends with different interests or a family with small children or teenagers.

In such instances, you may want to rely on a fun getaway with a flexible itinerary at a family-friendly resort such as Grand Lexis Port Dickson where the young and old can enjoy the best of both worlds. The whole family can expect a splashing time in the private pool within the privacy of their own suite, or proceed to engage in the myriad outdoor activities offered by the resort.

More adventurous souls may prefer an adrenalin-fuelled itinerary with hiking, paragliding, kayaking, or river-rafting as the highlight. Bear in mind though some of your intended holiday activities may have a set limit on the number of participants and advance booking required so it pays to plan ahead.

Whatever type of you have in mind, just remember online resources abound at your fingertips. Traveloka has plenty to offer: useful tips on travel planning, price comparisons on accommodation, things to do, etc.
After all, the journey of your holiday planning begins with a single step. Do it now!

FESTIVE OFFERINGS AT PLAZA PREMIUM LOUNGE

Merry Cuisine and Christmas Delicacies menus showcasing new mouth-watering turkey specialities will be available at The Green Market and Flight Club, two outlets under the Plaza Premium Group Airport Dining at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 (klia2).

The array of festive delights will warm the hearts and tummies of travellers from now until 26 December. Conceived by the in-house chefs, the Japanese-style Turkey Katsu Bento (RM28) and Turkey Meatball Don (RM28) are tasty takes and a nice departure from regular roast turkey.

Gossamer-light katsuobushi shavings and shimeiji mushroom add some textural interest in the rice bowl with turkey meatballs, lightly topped with savoury sauce. The former includes a wedge of soft beancurd in roasted black sesame dressing and salad, making it a complete meal.

Simple but delicious mod-European Turkey Confit Fettuccine (RM28) should hit the sweet spot for pasta lovers. Another signature go-to is Lamb Ragout Pappardelle (RM28), stimulating the appetite with hearty, soulful flavours.

In a hurry to catch your flight yet hankering for something easy to eat? The Flight Club’s Festive Grab ‘n’ Go of Turkey Sandwich (RM18) and Turkey Wrap (RM20) are convenient and tasty options to bank on. We like the shredded vege filling which gives the sandwich and wrap moist freshness.

Craving to satisfy your sweet tooth? We recommend the Mango Yogurt Mousse which is light, creamy and fruity on the palate. The tempting Strawberry Trifle and Chilled Oreo Cheesecake are richer but no less irresistible to tickle your fancy.

Patrons can enjoy a boost to the Yuletide spirit with Razman’s Mixology cocktail concoctions (RM30 per order). Pop into Flight Club to parch your thirst with Absolut Punch, Citrus Punch or Strawberry Punch.
Over at The Bar, the cool selection of Chi Chi Daiquiri, Strawberry Daiquiri and Lime Daiquiri (RM28 per order) is bound to make waiting for your flight so much merrier to bear. Teetotallers can look forward to cheering up with Virgin Pina Colada, Sea Breeze, Coffeeholic and Very Berry Smoothie mocktails at RM14 per order.

I like the look and feel of the Plaza Premium Lounge at Level 2, klia2 especially the comfortable lounge seating with charging ports for mobile devices. It’s a relaxing space to chill out as there are TVs screening the latest news, Wi-Fi access, complimentary reading materials, and business centre services amongst others.

Also available are made-to-order hot food selections, beverage options, and brewed coffee; all competitively priced to ensure more value for your money.

Across from the Plaza Premium Lounge is Aerotel Airport Transit Hotel which offers all the comforts of home at the airport. Whether you’re on transit, arriving or departing, Aerotel and its flexible hourly bookings make it a viable and comfy place to catch a nap and rest, refresh with a quick shower or relax and prepare for your onward journey.

Aerotel has different types of rooms available, catering to single travellers to couples and families. The interior boasts ambient lighting, practical yet tasteful designs and complementary traveller-friendly facilities.
