PRIVATE GETAWAY AT DANI BEACH COTTAGE LANGKAWI

A private tropical villa situated within Century Langkawi Beach Resort, Dani Beach Cottage — a rustic beachfront property in Pantai Kok is owned and managed by S&W Premium Collection. The minimum rental duration is 3 days/2 nights but Langkawi has so many tourist attractions and activities that visitors can easily spend up to a week here.
The frontyard of Dani Beach Cottage is lush & green
The dramatic palette of sunrise from our seafront room
Just a short drive away from the Langkawi International Airport past tall waving coconut trees and undulating country roads, Dani Beach Cottage — once part of the sprawling Century Langkawi Beach Resort — is nestled amidst clusters of greenery.
At hand to meet and greet us at our scheduled arrival time was Dani Beach Cottage’s affable caretaker Ms Azura. Besides explaining to us on the villa’s layout, house rules and key facilities, she also plied us with cold drinks and set out a welcome fruit basket on the sideboard.

Much to our delight, we found each of the spacious and airy bedrooms has its own sea-facing patio in addition to an en-suite bath and shower. There are a total of five beds within the three rooms. Thoughtful touches like the provision of cotton batik sarongs, flip-flop slippers, bath towels, liquid handwash and mini bottles of shampoo and shower gel are much appreciated.

We find the living area large and tastefully furnished, with strategically placed objects d’art, rugs, floor lamps and books giving it an inviting, homey feel. Long settees, comfy couches and a day bed with throw cushions and portable seat paddings are more than enough to host a party of eight.
At the entrance, the long sideboard does double service as breakfast and drinks bar. Bottles of drinking water, sachets of instant coffee and tea are provided along with a kettle, toaster and mini fridge. Breakfast is an enjoyable affair especially when eaten at the breezy patio area, serenaded by the splashing waves and rustling of tree leaves.
Complimentary WiFi is provided at Dani Beach Cottage although the reception is somewhat spotty in certain parts of the villa. Otherwise, the connection is considered good since we’re on an island resort up north in Malaysia!

An indoor dining table won’t be remiss too as it can serve as a breakfast nook on rainy days or as a convivial gathering point. It would be great if there is a mini kitchenette and sink or dishwashing area. Such a facility will come in handy for guests to clean up after themselves and help maintain the general upkeep of Dani Beach Cottage in the long run.

WORLD RECORD-BREAKING FEAT BY LEXIS HIBISCUS PD

Two Guinness World Records in one go...such a world-class achievement was chalked up by Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson (PD), one of Malaysia's premier resorts.
Verified by officials from Guinness World Records on 14 October 2016, Lexis Hibiscus PD is now the proud holder of two Guinness World Records for 'The Most Swimming Pools in A Resort" (it has 643 en-suite pools) and 'The Most Overwater Villas in A Single Resort" (a total of 522 villas onsite).
The resort celebrated its stellar record-breaking feat by hosting an official presentation of the official plaques from Guinness World Records, witnessed by hospitality and tourism industry friends, business partners and the media corp.

Pride and exuberance was obvious from the minute we stepped into the Ballroom foyer as we were welcomed by the resort team, most smiling from ear to ear at the auspicious occasion. In his welcome speech, YBhg Dato' Haji Mat Hassan Esa, Chairman of KL Metro Group highlighted how Lexis Hibiscus PD has attracted more than 3.2million tourists from 120 countries to Malaysia and offered plenty of job opportunities to locals.
Deputy Minister of Tourism & Culture Malaysia, YB Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin who read the Minister of Tourism & Culture's speech also lauded the resort for the double record-breaking achievements and called on individuals and corporate companies to emulate Lexis Hibiscus PD's stellar success.
According to Mr Swapnil Dangarikar, the representative from Guinness World Records, the process to determine and ascertain such unique property developments takes time and applicants need to fulfill strict criteria set by the Guinness World Records organisation.
Bursts of enthusiastic applause broke out when the ceremonial presentation of the Guinness World Records official certificates and plaques commenced. Managing Director of KL Metro Group, YBhg Dato' Low Tak Fatt and President of Lexis Hotel Group, Ms Mandy Chew Siok Cheng were present to receive the certs and plaques on behalf of the resort.
Heartiest congratulations to the management and staff of Lexis Hibiscus Port Dickson for these double Guinness World Records achievements.

STARRY BUKA PUASA FEAST BY THE SUNWAY LAGOON BEACH

Lounge under a star-spangled sky amidst a Moroccan-style tent adorned with billowing drapes, comfy satin throw cushions and decorative lanterns. As you partake numerous specialities laid out for buka puasa, enjoy the cooling breeze from Sunway Lagoon's expansive Surf Beach.

Sounds magical? This year the Sunway Lagoon team will be pulling out the stops to recreate a Moroccan oasis to let you feast like a king. Three rotational menus featuring over 20 live action hawker stalls will proffer an international selection of goodies.
Adding to the excitement is the hypnotic performances of fire eaters and jugglers, South African acrobatics, Arabian dancers and an erupting volcano.

The sensorial overload doesn't end there. A lavish buffet with the compelling  showpiece of whole roast lamb is included. Decked with Arabesque pillars and ornate lanterns, the delectable array veers from local satay and murtabak to grilled steak and seafood, and chicken shawarma.

My personal faves? Piquant Siam Lemak Laksa to set the tastebuds alight. Its closest rival is Nasi Briyani, fragrant basmati rice accompanied by Rendang Ayam Negeri Sembilan, Kambing Kuzi, Gulai Udang Nenas.

Appetising Popiah, Thosai and Aneka Goreng - assorted local fritters should fill up any empty tummy space. Remember to go easy though if you want to wrap things up on sweet renditions of Cendol, Ice Cream Sandwiches and Malay kuihs.

Sunway Lagoon's Starry Feast by  the Beach is served every Fri, Sat and Sun from 10 June to 3 July for buka puasa dinner. Price: RM88 per adult ; RM78 per person for group bookings of 30 persons.

For reservations, call Sunway Lagoon, tel: 03-5639 0000 or log onto: www.sunwaylagoon.com
