The partnership between Berjaya Food Berhad and Paris Baguette Singapore PLC saw the maiden Paris Baguette store opened by Yang Berhormat Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, together with His Excellency Mr. Yeo Seung-bae, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Malaysia and Tan Sri Dato’ Seri Vincent Tan, Chairman, Berjaya Corporation Berhad.

Dato’ Sydney Quays, Group Chief Executive Officer of Berjaya Food Berhad said more stores will be opened in cities across the country, bringing the world-famous Paris Baguette offerings to the Malaysian market.

Paris Baguette is distinctive by its urban bakery café concept with contrasting palettes of blues, soft white textures, and dark accents. This partnership allows us to further increase our presence in the Southeast Asia market.”

The newly opened Paris Baguette has been a hit with Malaysians thus far as they sample the wide selection of European-inspired pastries, breads, cakes, hot foods, and desserts.

DORSETT HARTAMAS OPENS IN KUALA LUMPUR

The Rooftop Sky Pool on Level 27 set a breathtaking stage for the opening of Dorsett Hartamas Kuala Lumpur one balmy evening. Plied with cocktails and mocktails concocted by a mixologist from Dorsett Shepherds Bush, London plus delicious Thai canapes from Chakri Palace Sky View, invitees had to skirt around the poolside cautiously lest they get too distracted by the panoramic view of the city spread out before them.
At dusk, few can resist snapping some Instaworthy shots of the darkening skies amidst strands of pearly lights strewn throughout suburbia; from the endless highways to key landmarks such as Istana Negara and in the distance, the KL Tower and the Petronas Twin Towers.

Stepping into the four-star Dorsett Hartamas Kuala Lumpur, we had an opportunity to view some of the 290 guestrooms and suites that evening. As expected, the rooms veer close to five-star standards in terms of plushness and its soft furnishings.
Some easily recognisable ID elements like the birds and Oriental motifs synonynmous with the Dorsett Hospitality International brand are omnipresent.
Later, invited guests joined  Datin Jasmine Abdullah, Vice Chairman of Dorsett Hospitality International and Peggy Tan (above left in maroon dress), General Manager of Dorsett Hartamas KL for the traditional tossing of the Chinese New Year salad, Yee Sang at Table Talk — Dorsett Hartamas’ 158 seat all-day dining cafe cum lounge.

Besides the customary festive speciality by Chef Bryan Teh from The Emperor Chinese Restaurant at Dorsett Grand Subang, the culinary team at Dorsett Hartamas KL also prepared an international spread of tempting morsels.

The dainty servings were creatively presented and showcased, to demonstrate the chefs’ inventiveness and current food trends with a multitude of different culinary influences.

CELESTIAL DYNASTY ADDS FLAVOUR TO PETALING JAYA

The opening of Celestial Dynasty Chinese restaurant in Petaling Jaya should please the city residents as they have a new dim sum and Chinese banquet outpost to satisfy their culinary cravings.

Officially opened with a firecracker-loud bang and a rousing lion dance performance a fortnight ago, those of us invited were warmly welcomed and ushered into the gold-lit, high ceiling and plushly carpeted dining hall. Upstairs are dedicated private rooms for corporate and personal entertaining.

For lunch, Dim Sum is the go-to staple. The full menu boasts up to 40 different items while no less than 25 offerings are served at only RM5 per serving on weekends.

For the grand opening, the kitchen brigade outdid themselves with a splendid buffet of the tempting selection available. Choice dishes such as radish and pig's stomach soup, roast duck and siew yoke (roast pork), and braised tea eggs among others jostled for our attention and tummy space.

Classic and trendy dim sum: veerring between siew mai (steamed pork & prawn dumplings) to deep-fried charcoal-black sui gau (prawn dumplings) and baked wou kok (yam puffs) beckoned invitingly. A la carte specialities such as pork ribs, salt and pepper squid, pumpkin slices in salted egg batter, yong tau foo, fried rice vermicelli and stir-fried prawns in soy sauce ensured we left satisfied.

Dessert was varied too, from cendol jelly to mochi and fresh fruits. Although it was my maiden visit, the first impression was positive and should augur well for future repeat visits. The proof of the pudding is in the eating so it's best to pop in and judge for yourselves if Celestial Dynasty measures up to your expectations.

For reservations, please call CELESTIAL DYNASTY, tel: 03-7931 7273, 16, Jalan 19/1, Seksyen 19, Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
